I don't have an iPod Touch, though I do have an iPhone, which is essentially the exact same thing except with a phone and GPS... And a camera.

Re: iPod Touch

Shut up Erik. You are continuing the tradition of having everything one step above me you big shithead. So how's the iPhone beeotch?  They cost over a thousand up here with a plan and it's bell offering it. I have a blackberry so I know that bell is the devil.

Re: iPod Touch

$1,000? Holy shit... I have an upgrade coming up... Want to buy an iPhone, I'll sell it to you unlocked for $999 tongue

Anyways, it's good, I don't use a whole lot of apps really, I do use Flickr a lot to upload images when I don't want to plug it into my computer, I also use my bank app, GPS Drive, Facebook, and The Weather Channel has a free app, too.

As far as games, Unblock Me is good free game, so is Tap Tap Revenge 3 (it's free now). I also have Tiger Woods and Virtual Pool, but I paid for those two.

Re: iPod Touch

Neat.  It's a traditon of mine to get things well after their initial release because Apple is famous for sneaking in these upgrades and drastically lowering the price after a year or less.  I learned that lesson with the eMac.  Got the bottom-o-the-line model and it cost 1100 plus tax CDN, which came to like almost 1500.  Had a shit CD-ROM drive and I had to spend money to get an exterior LaCie DVD-R drive along with it...another few hundred.  2 months later the SuperDrive eMac cost 999 CDN.  I was truly disgusted.  Now it's a piece of junk, won't turn on.  Got the white iMac, 3 or 4 months later...SILVER ONE comes out.  I traded it to my Mom for a spankin new MacBook, 2 months go by ALLUMINUM ONE comes out.  So I waited awhile for the iPod.  I just went bottom of the line again with an 8 gig.

It's getting ridiculous, to the point where I (almost) don't want to spend money on them anymore.  If I quit asking for these little toys and just banked the money they costed I would be in my own house right now...probably with an iPhone. big_smile

The curve is nice and very functional but it's a brick for me since no one calls, or everyone who does call I don't wanna talk to.  The themes are garbage, the internet is garbage, everything costs money to download andif it doesn't it's a 30 day trail.  I hate it.  I only keep it around because it's my only phone.  I don't text, tweet or any other nonsense.  Heh, but I can say I own one.

The MacBook is the only thing I use every single day.  Great for writing and school work.  Other than listen to music when I'm drunk or youtubing, forum-ing, wikipedia etc. and burning movies and playing poker it's also a brick.  Nothing I own reaches full potential.  I've had a 360 since they came out and didn't even know you could just sign into Xbox Live Silver and chat with people.  No idea.

Someone needs to educate me on this stuff.  I've been in a coma for 5 years and I'm just now waking up and discovering all these bricks in my room.  The espresso machine gets used every few hours though (or in today's case every 10 minutes) so that was a fine investment.

I missed you guys.  <3

Why is stuff so expensive in Canada? I know part of it is the exchange rate, but damn.

You can jailbreak the iTouch all you want, if anything every breaks on it, or something messes up, just plug it into your computer and restore it.

Simple, Steve Jobs hates Canadians.

But yeah, I'm used to seeing commercials that say "now just 100 dollars US!" and automatically doubling the price in my head. Sad huh?

And Erik did you jb your iPhone?  I wanna jb my iPod today but I've heard of them becoming completely unresponsive and bricked beyond repair...any truth in that?

Add me you boob.

Re: iPod Touch

no it's not true, you really can't brick them because if it gets really bad you restore on itunes and you'll be fine. I jailbroke my iPhoneand it's great. I don't mess with any settings I just use it to access payed apps for free (yeah I know that's wrong but some apps don't have free versions to see if they're any good.)

Re: iPod Touch

Thanks A-man. I have officially decided to do it. Possibly tonight. So can I get that ibeer app for free if it's jailbroken?  Can you really get full versions of games and apps for free?

Read FBI: these questions are purely hypothetical and possibly a figment of your imagination. I do not pirate anything. I do, however own an African grey parrot but his name is stewie and that's hardley a tough pirate captain's first choice for a name. Leave me alone.

Not officially but they can basically come and go and arrest as they please.  There's no "DEA Canada" but I know that when dope busts go down it's either the local police narc squad or american DEA taking them down.

Not that I'd know anything about dope busts...

Re: iPod Touch

I don't know if they make them for the iPod Touch, but I just ordered an OtterBox for my iPhone. I'm pretty excited, I work outside a lot, go fishing and go out on the lake quite a bit, I'll be happy to see how tough this thing really is.

Amazon.com has them for $30 with free shipping, they're usually $50

Re: iPod Touch

Me and Erik are going ice fishing this weekend.  Erik, you need to bring the Jim Beam's and I'll bring five packs of smokes and a can of chew for you.  All you dirty Arkansaucers dip don't you?

So yeah it's jailbroke.  It's pretty and lovely, all that jazz.

Next Mission:  Xbox Live to play with all you cool dudes and get my ass whooped in MW2.

Assassin's Creed 2 rocks.  Sabotuer is okay.  I want BioShock2.

Open tray error sucks.  I keep having to smack it in.

My lighter is dead and I'm lighting smokes off the toaster.

Bioshock 2 is looking to be amazing. Get on MW2 ASAP. We'll get the gang together or if we wanna go old school we could all play some Halo 2 or 3 just for old times sake.

Re: iPod Touch

Funny you mention smokes because I stopped smoking (again) one week ago today. It was extremely easy this time, as I read the book The Easy Way to Stop Smoking by Allen Carr. It was a really incredible book that took the approach of allowing you to smoke while reading it, and I swear half way through I wanted to stop but he insisted I didn't. By the last chapter you will actually be pumped up and excited to stop smoking. The fact is, it's easy with the right mindset. There is nothing to give up because cigarettes are not necessary for anything. There is no pain to withdrawal unlike many other drugs. Keep in mind that when I started reading I had no intention whatsoever to stop.

I smoked for 4 years (I'm 22) and I quit 2 years ago only to go back 6 months later. Now I know I will never smoke again in my life. The financial and health burdens are finally removed and I'll stop feeling like an outcast wherever I go. I'm also feeling great (no mood swings that were just nicotine cravings) and I'm starting to work out again.

Re: iPod Touch

Yes, I dip.

When I drink I smoke. I tend to drink quite a bit, and I don't like whiskey. I like beer, and I like Jeager.

Re: iPod Touch

I tried dip when I worked at a convenience store.  I just ripped one open because only like 5 guys bought it regularly.  I tried peach Skoal I think it was...my god.  It was the most disgusting thing I ever put in my mouth.  It burned so bad I had to spit it after about a minute and my eyes were watering and I was trying to serve customers...it wasn't pretty.  This is coming from a guy who dumps half a pint of frank's extra hot sauce on his eggs every morning...even I couldn't handle the dip.

I dunno about the states but we have what's called "illegal tobacco" here and it's what 50% of Cape Breton buys instead of paying 15 a pack at the store.  They're bags of king size unstamped cigs, 200 per bag for about 35 bucks.  They used to be as low as 15 but the police are busting them a lot more now and it's basically more profitable than selling coke or weed on a small scale.  The cigs themselves are pretty bad...some bags are more disgusting than others.  They have huge tobacco "twigs" in them and when you flick them the hot ash falls off.  They're also either dry and harsh or so moist and tightly rolled that you get a headache trying to get a drag off them and end up having to cut the filters.  I don't care if I need to collect cans for a pack, I wont buy those bags.

You can get cheaper tobacco and gasoline at native reservations around here which my family does a lot...but the savings are only apparent if you buy a carton and it's still about 90 dollars.  120 for a carton anywhere else.  Specialty methol cigs can run as high as 135 a carton.  That's 8 packs.  Ridiculous.

Weed is still cheap up here though...

I like Copenhagen, right now I'm dipping the Wintergreen because it's intro price is $3.14 a can, most cope is $6 a can after taxes.

Re: iPod Touch

Clark if I could tear myself away from Modern Warfare 2 we could play. It's just really hard to go back to Halo after playing any Call of Duty games. I recommend you try Modern Warfare 2 even though I know your reply is going to be you have and you don't like it. Everyone plays MW2 for a reason, it's just a better multiplayer experience all around.

Evan some apps are just a pain to get off installous, just check back and see if someone else cracked it. Here are some payed apps I've gotten for free that I recommend:

Midomi Soundhound
Tweetie 2
Metal Gear Solid Touch*
Bejeweled 2*
Skee-Ball
Guitarist
DigiDrummer*
Flight Control*
Labyrinth 2
Backdrops
Finger Physics*
The Moron Test
UnblockMe
DoodleJump*
Tetris

*Highly recommended
I left out all camera related apps because they'd be useless to you but included Midomi because I'm not sure if the touch ever got a mic?

Oh and dip is gross. The only one that I could somewhat tolerate (but still hate) is camel snus but I don't think that's even considered dip. It didn't really do anything for me but was nice when I knew I couldn't smoke for a long period of time. Now I don't have to worry about any of that.

Re: iPod Touch

Thanks Ameer. I will be sure to check those out. Is that drum one any better than drumkit?  I find drumkit really late in detecting my finger movements and I love to tap out beats as I can play real drums. Nope no mic, she's bottom of the line 8gb. Has nothing extra. I don't even use it as a music player. More just as an app and Internet machine that is sooo fun to manipulate. I'm getting really fast with the key board and you start to feel pretty cool when you get it down pat. I don't know about anyone else but I use the bb curve button keyboard and find it much harder to use than the touchscreen on the iPod. Many people complain the opposite but I think the landscaped key board in safari is much larger, more responsive and easier to manipulate than actual buttons.

I gave up on jellycar for today as I'm sick of it timing out. Tried shopping cart hero and it really sucks. I don't know why all the ratings are so good I thought it sucked. Doodle jump is endlessly entertaining even though I haven't gotten past 100,000 yet. My gf has officially beat me in falldown and she beat trace this afternoon. She loves the iPod but hates regular video games. She'd rather tetris than mw2. Hehe.

Re: iPod Touch

DigiDrummer is excellent, you can drum out legit beats and it has almost 0 latency. There are like 25 or so different kits and with headphones or plugged into some sort of audio out they sound incredible. Doodle Jump is digital crack.

And Clark even if you don't play that often I'm sure we'd still find some time to play.

haha yeah it means "prince" in Arabic. I am in fact a terrorist...I was on the no fly list for a few years after 9/11 but they caught the guy so now I'm off. Ameer is an awesome name though, it's used by Arabs, Jews, Persians, and Indians. Spelled Ameer, Amir, Emir, etc. My favorite College Humor series features an Amir.

And yeah I'm bored, done studying and waiting to get tired. Not really working though...

Cool!  Were you seriously on the no-fly list or are you just fucking with me?  That's crazy.

Digidrummer is amazing, I wont need a real kit anymore, this sounds great.  I found out that media-something gives me waaaaaay faster dl speeds so I'll look for cracks hosted from there for jellycar.

Dude, how can you not love Jellycar...if I had to choose an alternate world to live in, it would be jellycar world.

My middle name is Juozas.  I get made fun of a lot for it but that's because I live in a region where every brown person is "Paki" or "Arab" and black people are still referred to as colored by most middle aged adults.  It's "Joseph" in Lithuanian.

Yeah essentially I couldn't print my boarding pass online, I had to go in person so they could make sure I wasn't THE Ameer they were looking for.
