JAILBREAK HELP!!!

hmm...I literally downloaded blackra1n, plugged my iPhone into my computer, hit "Make it Rain," and was done. Took about 2 minutes...I have no idea what the problem is with your setup. iTunes should not be open while the program is jailbreaking. Plug the ipod in, close out iTunes and try it. It's very odd that it's not working but I don't know enough about jailbreaking to help, sorry.

Turns out I have to run my jailbreak tethered as I have the new (stupid stupid) iPhone OS.  Now I have to "re-jailbreak" it with blackrain every time I ever power it off or it restarts.  I essentially need to launch the iPod through blackrain (clicking make it rain and watching buddy whatshisname's face for 2 minutes) any time it is powered off.  Not a huge issue since I don't power it off except when prompted by Cydia apps or whatever, but if I accidentally turned it off while I'm out it will stay is recovery mode until I can run blackrain again with it plugged in.  Kinda sucky.  The reason I couldn't get it to work is when I ran blackrain it did its thing and said it was successfully jailbroken...followed abruptly by a restart and iTunes telling me an iPod had been connected in recovery mode.  I was all double-u tee eff until on about the 20th try and closing iTunes, setting it to not sync blah blah it still wouldn't work and I thought "hmmm, maybe I'll run blackrain again while its in recovery mode" and did.  It didn't jailbreak it but just rebooted it to the apple screen and the blackrain icon was there.  Strange.

I'm having a lot of fun with it though.  I'm really glad you guys talked me into it because I can't imagine the dull, boring black springboard and icons after just a few hours of having it jailbroken and playing with winterboard/bosspaper.

no troll bridge is gone they got a new server. It's amazingly fast. If it's going slow and pausing try a different download link.

Everything default for me as far as themes. When I messed with the theme or anything visual on my last jailbreak I found that my battery life drained quickly and the phone ran slowly at times. It shouldn't be as much of a problem for you.

Finally got Gelatinous Automobile Second Installment from "app store" and I absolutely love it. But ever since I started trying to best myself on doodle crack I can't put it down to make time for jellycar. It's great though with a new car and some neat new features like sticky tires and balloon pickups as well as long jump challenges and a level editor and builder. I also got doodle army and it's not very fun so I'll probably delete it. Why can't they make a good shooter?

Also Erik tell me how you got that lock screen. I raped cydia and can't find anything like it. Kthxbai.

The MacBook has a bigger, better antenna. The whole thing is made of plastic too, so it doesn't really interfere with it's antenna either.

And yes, you can see who's on your WiFi network, but I guarantee if it's a publicly broadcasted network with no password, they have no idea how to check that.

The iPod touch's antenna sucks, or rather the software does.

Sometimes I will get a signal, but when I try to connect it won't work. Seems the iPod touch hates really low signals so unless I'm within unblocked view of the router I'll have trouble.

This causes a problem at work because their free WiFi doesn't work well, or at all in the break room which is located 100 feet from the router, behind the bakery and a solid stone wall followed by another thinner wall. Since it is one of those log-in schemes, it refuses to connect automatically since I have to manually click a "I agree" button. So I find myself reconnecting all the time. When I do connect to the WiFi, it takes a few seconds to pop-up the log-on page then a few more to connect. And I can only do it when on the sales floor so I have to watch for the managers. And if I put it to sleep it disconnects. Or if it sleeps itself it disconnects. Wouldn't be a problem if the iPod could just turn off the screen but keep the system running. Instead I find myself turning the brightness down to almost 0, turning off sleep and leaving it running in my pocket all day at work. Thank god it charges to full in less than 2 hours.

At home I have no problem inside the house. Outside it gets tricky though.

With my laptop, I could walk all the way down to Kmart and still have a connection. With the iPod, I can't go more than 20 feet from the front doors outside. So I can't sit in my car with my iPod. I find myself gaming during breaks instead of browsing though. Not that it's a big deal. Gaming is more productive than fucking around on FaceBook or reading threads I could read at home later when I have more time.

I guess I shouldn't look a gift horse in the ass since it is free WiFi and it is at work and it does mean I can be on the internet while standing around behind a counter while there are no customers.

Only with my iPod. My MacBook has great signal. Probably due to the bigger antenna.

It does. In my house. My house is fine. My laptop has great range. My iPod does not. It's a 2G so who knows. People have said ever since 3.0, a lot of iP's have had terrible wifi range.

I'm running 3.1.2 and I get a signal anywhere in my house, yard, even at the end of my driveway and up the road a bit.  I tested it the day I got it as I do with any laptop I get.  I can't understand how a device with wifi connectivity needs to be unresonably close to the wifi source to pick up a signal.  Mine is 3rd gen so that might be the difference.

Yeah I know and I'm not upgrading it.  They didn't have a jailbreak for 3.1.3 but I think dev team released it maybe yesterday and it's still tethered.  Even though I have a thethered jailbreak already I still don't want to risk it.  Some apps yous see in Cydia have warnings that say they don't work well with newer versions and some just plain wont work on anything over 3.0.

I won't upgrade till they make an untethered jailbreak for 4.0 when it's released.  Everything is working just perfectly (aside from it being tethered which blows) right now so why mess with a good thing?  Apple just wants me to lose my jailbreak.  Fuck 'em.

Circuit City went under so no one has one near them. Walmart should have some sort of wall adapter. The apple one is quite pricey. All you need is a USB to AC adapter, you don't need any sort of proprietary plug. Should be relatively inexpensive.
