I only had to drive 4.3 miles tonight, I actually reset my trip meter, but anyways... yeah, I had to drive home tonight, and I don't even remember it.

I remember getting in my truck, lighting a cigarette and then arriving at my house. Nothing in between. It's amazing really, I have to give myself a pat on the back.

Even though this has nothing to do with alcohol, and it's not random, and we don't hav a stream thread just for chatting so I'l post here.

I just went into work... three and a half hours early. Fortunately the store is set up so the front end people are far away from the direct path from the front doors to the break room. I was in and out like a ninja.

But I stopped for a second to think about whether or not I should just start early. Of course I'd only do it if they shifted my hours earlier. Let me leave earlier.

I decided to just come back home. I now have three hours before work. Should I sleep or stay up...? Hmmm...

Re: The Epitomy of Drunkiness

I'm bumping this for JUSTICE.

So in Lansing there is a minor league baseball team, the Lugnuts. They do a Thirsty Thursday promotion every Thursday with $2 beers. I went last week because they play MSU in a "Crosstown Showdown". MSU ended up winning like 11-2. And somehow I missed every play of baseball besides a homerun lol.

WELLLLLLLLLLLLLL

Tomorrow I was going again but this time with people from my work. I thought it would be fun to hang out with some of them outside of work. The weather was bad earlier this week so the games got rained out. So what happens is DOUBLE HEADER ON THIRSTY THURSDAY. The first game starts at 6:05 and so the 2nd game probably won't start till 9-9:30. This is going to be a test of my endurance to last that long (). I think it's gonna be incredibly awesome. Drinking and organized sports. What could be better. I just hope I don't get fired from my job somehow big_smile

I agree, although the reasoning behind 21 isn't terrible (that's when the brain stops maturing on average).  The main problem with lowering it is that in many European countries, drinking isn't to get drunk even as a kid.  In America, most of the time kids drink for that main reason.  Still, those two reasons pale against the reasons to lower it.
You're absolutely right on the drunk driving point, suburban and rural America would need shitloads more mass transit for that to work.  I love the New York transit system.  It's dirty and often smells like piss (the old trains anyway), but it's more functional than any other system I know of (moreso than the ones that are greater technologically).  It makes sense, and to those whom it doesn't there are maps everywhere and the trains tell you the next stop.  Cars are nice, but you can get anywhere in New York via buses and trains.  Taxi drivers have way better navigation than you OR your fucking Garmin.  If there was simply a cab or bus system that was more easily accessible to those outside of cities, lowering the drinking age while penalizing drunk drivers more heavily would work pretty damn well.  Of course, two of those might get done, but it doesn't really look like the third (drinking age) will anytime soon.

Clark wrote:

This is the one exception.  You should never have to watch your life wither away in jail for just driving drunk when you were 17. Period.  If you, for example, ran over someone there might be a reason.

One day we will look back on this, laugh nervously, and change the subject.

Re: The Epitomy of Drunkiness

I just got a DWI...

I was moving my car from a timed spot to a parking lot less than 100 feet away.

I blew a .23

You think I should be in jail for 30 days? Cunt.

Of course, I decided to get in the car, turn it on, and proceed to the right turn directly in front of me, so yes, technically I deserve to be punished.

Do I deserve 30 days in jail? HA!!!

Funny thing is, my fines were $400. My license will be suspended for 120 days, but it gets better, I can drive every day of the week (yes, even Saturday and Sunday) between 6AM-9PM.

OH MY GOD MY LIFE IS OVAR!!!!

Yes, I believe the drinking age should be lowered. If for no other reason to decrease binge drinking. Kids here think it's a huge deal to be able to drink, and so they drink as much as possible when available.

I spent six months in Germany and they had no idea why us Americans wanted to drink so much when we were drinking.

For us to say "ALRIGHT NO DRINKING UNTIL 21" then give them free reigns does not seem right. In Germany if you get a DWI you ARE going to jail for more than 6 hours.

My post didn't make a whole lot of sense because it's a bit scattered, but whatever. Much love GP.

I hate gun control. Well, not gun control in general, but the way they portray it is pitiful...

The thing is, the people they are trying to keep guns away from (gang members, etc) are going to have guns whether or not they are legal.

The only people they are hurting are us. I'm 20 years old, I'll be 21 in October. I own five handguns and six rifles.

When I turn 21 I'm going to get my concealed carry permit, then I am going to have a pistol on my at all times. Why? I don't need one, but because it's my goddamn right since I live in this country.

Re: The Epitomy of Drunkiness

So anyways. Yesterday I awoke from a sound sleep and looked at the clock. It was 6 O'clock. A few seconds before, the sound that woke me, was my mother yelling at something. I was freaked. I had slept the whole day away! It was bright as day outside. I was bummed.

But at the same time I didn't know how it could happen.

I jumped out of bed and had to confirm the time. It was 6AM. Not 6PM. And the yelling was part of a dream. The dream woke me from a sound sleep. Of which I had currently only slept 4 hours, but wasn't that tired at that point. I actually felt like I had slept all day.

Needless to say I was happy I hadn't missed the whole day. But it was freaky. I had to confirm on my phone clock. 6AM. Not PM. I went back to sleep... and slept until 1PM.

Re: The Epitomy of Drunkiness

I usually drink on the weekends, now that it's the summer and we're on the lake all the time I'm drinking more.

Look up zip code 72653 and tell me you wouldn't have a good time motherfuckers.

What'd you drink? Beer? I never really feel drunk after drinking beer, only buzzed....Drink something harder and you won't be saying that tongue

Jagermeister is my drink, you should try it if you haven't already.

Re: The Epitomy of Drunkiness

I love that scene. Notice he's just jabbing at the keys foreshadowing the episode when he actually loses his hand.

At my reunion I had a beer, a Long Island Iced Tea and four shots of various things. And those only got me to the "I am aware of stuff going on, but am doing things without thinking and it feels so awesome" point.

Saturday night I stopped drinking at 6PM because I just couldn't take anymore. They tried to get me to do a Keg Stand but I just didn't feel up to it. Maybe a few hours earlier when I was still inebriated I would have said yes. But by that point I just didn't want it anymore.

I try to stick to beer, hard liquor will not only ruin my night, but everyone elses night also.

Trust me, you can get drunk off beer... Very very drunk, in fact, drunk enough to blow a 0.23

I don't drink hard stuff as much anymore. If I do, it's just to pre-game when I'll have 3-4 shots.

Re: The Epitomy of Drunkiness

Are you there, Geekpub?

It's me, BriGuy. I just got back from a friend's house where we had been consuming alcohol. It's okay, though, because I am of legal age. We decided to turn the Mario Kart video game for the Nintendo Wii console into a drinking game. Before every race, once the countdown began, we would have to drink about half a cup of beer before we can accelerate our racer. The CPU (central processing unit/computer) would thus get a head start and make it more "difficult" for us to win (if you have played the game you understand the ' " '). We would also rotate being the DJ and selecting a song for the race using my friend's laptop. It was awesome. I'm gonna be up in about 3 hours so that's cool. I can't wait.

PS I watched the 1st season of Dexter. Has anyone seen this show? I've always heard people talking about it but I was finally able to watch the 1st season and I found it incredibly addicting.

The rest of your post does not matter. I find this important.

It is your duty to find *cough* download *cough* the rest of the seasons and watch them. The new season starts this September and you have to be up to snuff. If you thought the first season was good, keep watching, it only gets crazier every season.
